Turning Construction Waste Into Circular Solutions: Our Partnership with Stratex

At Assembled Threads, we believe the future of manufacturing is built on collaboration. Bringing together sustainability, local production, and meaningful employment to create solutions that have a lasting impact.

Our long-term partnership with Stratex is a great example of what can happen when two organisations come together with a shared vision: finding innovative ways to keep materials in use and create practical solutions for the construction industry.

From Construction Waste to Worksite Solutions

One of our key collaborations with Stratex has been the development and manufacturing of products made from recovered gawk mesh (temporary construction banner mesh).

Often used around construction sites, gawk mesh has traditionally had limited recycling pathways and was commonly destined for landfill once projects finished. Through Stratex’s circular approach and our manufacturing expertise, this material has been repurposed into new commercial solutions designed for ongoing use on worksites.

These include the 100% recycled silt socks, where recovered banner mesh is transformed into durable sleeves for sediment and erosion control; Drain Guards, designed to protect stormwater drains from sediment and hydrocarbons; Recycled Spill Mats, providing a durable and eco-conscious solution for managing leaks and drips from equipment and machinery; and Recycled Spill Kit Liners, offering quick and easy access to spill kit contents while simplifying stock management and helping prevent absorbent contamination.

Designed specifically for civil infrastructure projects, these products are manufactured by Assembled Threads, providing practical, sustainable alternatives that support both environmental outcomes and local manufacturing.

The Impact of Purposeful Manufacturing

Every product we create with Stratex is a reminder that waste is often just a resource waiting for a new purpose.

By combining Stratex’s expertise in environmental solutions with Assembled Threads’ local manufacturing capability, we’re continuing to explore new ways to turn discarded materials into valuable, reusable products.

Our collaboration with Stratex demonstrates that commercial manufacturing can deliver more than a finished product, it can create social impact, reduce waste, and support a more sustainable future for Australian industries.

Great to be working with Assembled Threads, you have turned waste mesh into great products. These are now been offered back to the Civil Infrastructure industry with a new life. Love the Circular Economy!
